Edie is 3 months old!

We can't believe this little girl is already 3 months old and yet, at the same time, we can't remember life without her!

At 3 months, these are some things we want to remember about you:

You are eating about 6 ounces every four-ish hours during the day and then sleep from about 10pm-6am. 

You love to nap! While we would love to snuggle you to sleep, you often just want to go to your bed and you let us know.  As soon as we lay you in bed on your tummy with your paci, you look so happy and relaxed.  

You have started enjoying some of the big girl toys in between naps. You like to be able to stand up on your legs and bounce.  Your sisters love to watch you play!

You're not yet holding on to toys but you do like to grab our fingers and sometimes  your sisters' hair. 

In your short 3 months of life, you have already travelled to Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado and have proved yourself as a fabulous road-tripper making it all the way from Colorado to home in one day with your trusty sister by your side. 

We can't wait to see what the next month holds and just hope we can squeeze out all the snuggles and smiles possible!

Edie is 1 month old!

That went by so fast, sweet girl! In some ways, it feels like you've always been part of our family and in others, it seems like we were just waiting to meet you yesterday!

You are growing every day and I just packed away the newborn clothes this past week to return to the Calls who loaned them to us.  Thankfully, it just happened to be same day that Emily brought a bag full of 0-3 month footies (our favorite clothing of choice most of the time). 

You are eating between 2-4 ounces around 6am, 9am, 12pm, 3pm, 6pm, and 9pm and getting up 1-2 times in the night for some more.  Big sister Vivi has learned to give you a bottle this week and she loves it.  Mommy still feeds you most of the time but Viv begs to do it whenever possible!

You discovered that you like to sleep on your tummy this week. Just like your sisters! However, only you have the special privilege of sleeping in Mom and Dad's bed.  Just FYI, this isn't a permanent arrangement but it does seem to be the best way for us all to get some sleep for now!

You got your first Wubbanub from the Howze family this week and you seem to be a fan of your new little buddy. 

You are most awake in the late evening hours, especially when you are snuggling with Daddy.  Your neck is getting really strong and you even like to push and kick with your legs. 

You are paying more attention to your surroundings and have just noticed the animals hanging on your swing and the mobile above your pack and play. 

You remain our favorite source of entertainment and are the delight of your sisters. We love you so much and can't wait to see more of your personality as you grow this next month!

Halloween 2015

Our first Halloween in Oklahoma was rated "the best Halloween ever" according to Vivien.  I don't think that speaks as much to a Texas Halloween as it does to being old enough to totally "get" the candy collecting thing, especially since their experience last year was cut short since we were leaving to drive up here to look at houses.

We are not big costume planners in this house.  Vivien already owned a cute mermaid outfit so she declared she would be Ariel from The Little Mermaid.  Amity considered a few options but we suggested Flounder and she went for it.  On Halloween morning, I bought red yard for Viv's wig and a bright yellow shirt and blue tutu for Amity.  

 I think they resemble somewhat, no?

GG and KK came over to Bville for Vivi's soccer game and spent the night.  Before heading out for our Halloween adventures, the girls went across the street to deliver some pumpkin muffins to our favorite neighbors, the Wessons.

 Then we headed to the Sooner Miniature Golf Course sponsored by the Kiwanis Club.  It was FREE and the girls got to get a piece of candy at every hole.

 Amity got pretty competitive.

 Vivi's mini golf game is more like lacrosse.  We tried to make her follow the rules but it was useless.

 After mini golf, we headed to the Howzes' neighborhood to trick or treat with friends.  Unfortunately, it was dark and I didn't attempt to take any pictures.  Dennis stayed back with the dads to hand out candy and the girls and I stayed with our gang as they collected quite the stash.  They are already looking forward to Halloween 2016!

Zoo Girls Getaway

Today was a day I want to remember! These past few weeks have been so busy with work and school planning but we had put a zoo trip on the calendar.  And even though storms were in the forecast, I decided to go ahead and take a chance even if our friends decided not to come with us.  It was such a fun time that reminded me of the many adventures I had with these girls the past 7 years in Dallas when they were toddlers and preschoolers but it was also fun to enjoy the zoo at a new bigger kid level, actually stopping to read signs and talking with the zookeepers. There are things we miss about the Dallas zoo but the Tulsa zoo is great too.  We were worn out after spending about five hours there.  Such a fun day marveling about God's creatures with these fun little ladies!

Vivien Leigh turns FIVE!

It happened!  Even though we told her that we liked her just the way she was a four year old, she went and turned FIVE!  She told us, "God made me to grow!"

Her Sunday birthday started out with the traditional birthday pancake.  This is likely the last year birthday pancakes are served to a footie-pj clad girl! 😩

After church, we had pizza for lunch (her request) and then she got all dressed up in her new Elsa dress from GG and KK. 

This was Viv's year to have a party and she has been planning it since her 3-year-old party.  The fact that we had moved away from all of her friends one month before didn't seem to diminish her hopes.  When we asked her what Oklahoma friends she would want to invite, she quickly named all the kids in our church home group.  I invited the three families with kids ages 2 months-13 years and they all showed up for her Frozen party.

We are lasagna and then played several Minute to Win It Frozen games that Dennis and I found or invented.  

So thankful for this girl who makes us laugh, gives the best snuggles, and teaches us to think of others.  And thankful for new friends that came to celebrate with us!

Deep Thoughts

Last night, as Vivien threw away the 3rd caterpillar that has died on our watch, she asked me, "Mom, does the world have an end?"  Dennis overheard her and asked, "Do you mean does the earth drop off?"  "No," she answered, "I mean when will everything die?"  Our very humble answer was "When God decides for it to."  We kept asking what prompted her to ask that and she answered by saying, "I'm hungry.  Can I have a snack?"

Tonight, Amity watched Dennis working on spackling the wall in the living room.  She asked, "Why do people worry so much about fixing their houses?  It's not going to keep them from dying."

Fair Day 2014

As Amity said, "It should be called 'The Fun'."

 We let the girls each pick out two rides at the Midway.  Amity likes to spin and is getting more or more fond of roller coasters.

 Dennis is more than pleased to haveto accompany her!

 Vivien gets dizzy easily and even though, she is getting tall enough for the bigger kid rides...

 she still likes to take it nice and easy!  All she wanted was to sit in this sparkly pink tractor and ride around several times.

We coerced convinced Vivien to ride the baby rollercoaster.  Dennis was going to ride with her and then we realized that she was tall enough to ride on her own.  Amity had picked a really lame car ride for her 2nd choice, so we let her go as Vivi's mini-chaperone on the rollercoaster.  They started out with all smiles.

 Viv's grip was getting tighter and tighter.  Amity said she had one hand on the handle and her other hand patting Vivien and telling her, "It's okay!  It's okay!"

 This was pretty much Vivi's face during most of the ride.  She takes after her mom...just wanting it to be over!

 Vivi gave the ride a "thumbs down".

Back to this year...

 This is really the cutest thing.  I love the pretending and that they both still play along!

 Sweet Amity was one inch too tall to ride the tractor trikes this year.  Thankfully, she was okay with it.  Her mom was close to throwing a fit!

And Vivi seems to be perfecting a pageant head-tilt and wave in all of her fair pics.

 Love it!  The workers play along so seriously and thank the "farmers" for all their hard work.  The girls earned their farm buck and were thrilled to "buy" bags of Cheetos (V) and Oreos (A) from the store.

 There were Fletcher's Corny Dogs to be eaten.

 And enormous butter sculptures to be admired.

 Big Tex 2.0

Funnel Cake was devoured. Unfortunately, the girls like it now so we found that it didn't last as long between the two of us as before.

 We saw a camel and Amity remembered the story we just read in the Just So Stories about "How the Camel Got His Hump".

 Vivien pointed to these and matter-of-factly said, "That's an African-Crested Porcupine!"  I looked at the sign and she was right BUT she can't read.  I asked her how she knew and, of course, she said, "I saw them on Wild Kratts!"

 We did some toe-tapping to the Celtic group, the Kildares.

 And we ended with the pig races.

We came home, ate dinner, and uploaded our pictures to the computer.  Dennis made some caramel popcorn and the four of us sat on the couch and looked at Fair pictures from previous years.  The girls said, "Sitting on the couch, eating popcorn, looking at pictures, and snuggling...this is the best day ever!"  I agree!
