Summer Sunday Morning

We were actually running a bit early on our way out to church this morning so, when I sent Vivien out to pick up the newspaper and noticed how beautiful the sunlight was, I grabbed the camera for some pictures.  These were my favorites!

Help me, Jesus!

I'm not sure whether it is the Texas heat or just being ages 2 and 4, but we are definitely deep in the middle of sibling drama here at the Grover house.  I try to not intervene in every argument but I am trying to address "words that tear down" rather than "build up".

This morning, I asked Amity about something I had heard her say to Vivien.  I asked her if she would have liked it if Vivien had said those same words to her.  She agreed that she wouldn't and I told her that we need to ask God for help to not say words that tear down but rather only words that build up.  She stood up and said, "I think I need to go get up on my bed and pray!" :)

Later in the morning, both girls were in the bathroom and I overheard more unkind words from Amity to Vivien.  All I said was, "Amity, are those building up words?"  The next thing I heard was, "Dear God, please, please help me say kind words to my sister.  Amen!"

Part of me would love to snap my fingers and just be done with sibling issues BUT it looks like it will be one way that God will cause us all to rely on Him even more!

Albuquerque Turkey!

On our drive back to Texas from Colorado on Saturday, we drove through Albuquerque to visit Uncle Jim and Carol.  They graciously provided us Dion's pizza (Dennis's absolute favorite) and endured a couple of hours with four children that had been cooped up in a car.

Echo Lake...Lake...Lake

This morning, we decided to try to take advantage of the sunny morning to go to Echo Lake for some canoe and kayak time.  Everyone loved it, especially the kids!  And no one tumped over!  Hurrah!  Thanks to Tony, Melody, and Ashlee for sharing their boats with us!
