Oops! I did it again!

Well, actually this was the first time for a kerfuffle of this sort!

I love smocked dresses on little girls and have been informed that ebay is the place to find them. I have looked on and off for the past few months but never win anything because I won't up my bid past my budget. Last week, Dennis cleaned out his closet and I have begun listing some of his clothes on ebay. Surprisingly, I sold 12 shirts for $52 minus $24 in shipping. He said I could use the money to buy some things for Amity. In my excitement, I read 3T instead of 3M and bid on this super-cute dress and I WON! It was a really good deal for a brand-new dress but it is just a wee-bit small for a little girl who sometimes wears 18M clothes! Since bishop dresses tend to run a little large, I decided to try it anyways. Plus, I am also trying to decide if I should resell it or save it for a potential second Grover daughter (no...this is NOT an announcement!). My model performed fairly well despite it being past her bedtime and having no feeling below her elbows. Doesn't she look sweet? I did, however, have to crop out the drool spot on her left shoulder so that I could still list this as New with Tags or NWT in ebay language (I am quickly becoming tri-lingual!).

  1. Hey from one new ebayer to another check out the flat rate boxes that the post office sells! They will save you ton in shipping because it is not by weight. Whatever fits in the box goes, and there are a few different sizes. We shipped a laptop for $10 plus insurance. Just thought you would like to know! Oh and try marshals for smocked dresses. I have gotten several laura ashley and ralph lauren smocked dresses there for $10 and $15.

  2. Thanks, Shanda! I have officially decided that you are my girl-clothes-buying-mentor! Amity loves her $15 Robeez from Marshalls. Keep those tips coming!

  3. Candace--(This is Sally Huber Park, BTW)I just got your parents' letter and had to check out your blog, and when I saw this post I HAD to comment. Here in the "deep" South, the little girls where almost nothing BUT smocked dresses. When mine were little, I was so fortunate to have Jed's mom who saved all the little matching dresses she had smocked for Jed's two sisters. When I ran out of those, I learned to smock and made a few myself--since as you know they are not cheap! The bishops are quite easy-- the smocking is "sinchy" and the putting together is minimal. I've not had time to smock for Carter except to fininsh a little blue day gown (before he was born, that is) that I had originally started for one of our boy foster babies! Anyway, more than you wanted to know, but smocked clothing is obviously near and dear to my heart.

Amity is ADORABLE and if Carter's betrothal to our friends'daughter here doesn't work, we might want to talk about working something out with ya'll! :)

Since our wedding scrapbook is still in the form of a scrapBOX, we plan to use blurb.com to occasionally convert this blog into a photobook for our girls. Your comments will be included in the book and we love them! Thanks again for dropping by!
