Today was a beautiful day and we had no official plans so I decided to make a spontaneous trip to the Arboretum. I love having the Arboretum exactly 1.6 miles from our house!
Unfortunately, it is no longer "the best kept secret in Dallas" and we were not the only ones who had decided to enjoy the cool and sunny fall day. Arriving at 10:30 am, we had to wait in line to get into the parking lot and were sent to the back 40 to park in the grass. It truly felt strange to realize that I was one of
those moms in a SUV with a stroller in the back competing for a parking space!
Once inside the gate, we headed to the Pecan Grove and arrived just in time for the Creative Movement class. The sweet lady was so energetic and cute but Amity was a little overwhelmed and preferred to eat lunch and watch the other kids sing and dance.

We then headed over to the pumpkin patch. Amity calls pumpkins something that sounds like "cunkies" but mostly she just calls them "balls". She loved picking them up.

This one was the perfect size.

But that one was a little too big!

I am glad she remembered to bend with the knees before doing any heavy lifting!

So many pumpkins! Which one should I choose?

Those "big kids" (3 year olds) jumping off the hay bales sure were funny!

After deciding that I wasn't going to snap the "Perfect Pumpkin Patch Picture" (say that 5 times fast!), we walked over to the petting zoo. In order to actually get into the corral, you have to wait in line with 30 or more other children. We decided that we could get plenty close to the animals by just hanging outside the fence!

Of course, Amity did try sticking her head into the pony's corral.

Here she is trying to speak "neigh" to the horse.

We stayed outside the petting zoo for at least twenty minutes. Several times, I asked Amity if she was ready to go and she said, "No, no, no."
When we had finally had our fill of farm animals, we walked around the main walkway and looked at the beautiful flowers and, of course, MORE pumpkins!

By the time we got back to our blanket and stroller, Miss Lisa was in the middle of her KinderMusik class. As much as Amity loves music and loves for us to sing to her, she is still a bit wary of the group music and dancing classes. She did like the scarves and did a bit of butterly flitting as she imitated what the "big kids" were doing.

And then she decided to try something a little more her own style. I am not really sure what to call this!

Even though it was crowded, it was still a lovely morning spent with a lively and lovely little girl!
arboretum days are the best!! we are going next monday!! maybe we will see you!! :-)
