Amity has been experimenting with writing letters for quite a while now and has just recently learned to put the magnets in the right order to spell her name. About two weeks ago, she was sitting at her table coloring while I was cleaning up the kitchen. She yelled, "Mom, look, I wrote my name!"

And she had!

She has since just gotten better and better and writes her name on anything she is working on. The last two weeks when I picked her up from her class at church, she had written her name on her paper next to the teacher's writing of her name.

She continues to be a do-it-yourself kind of girl teaching herself how to write her name. I wonder what her next DIY project will be!

Hidden in Her Heart

When Vivien was born, some dear friends gave us the book My ABC Bible Verses:  Hiding God's Word in Little Hearts by Susan Hunt.  When we finished reading The Jesus Storybook Bible last month, we started reading this book before bedtime with Amity.  Sometimes it seems a little over Amity's level but there have been some really relevant stores about Missy and Bill that have been good examples to talk about and she has remembered.  When we first started reading, I would quickly read the Bible verse and move on to what I thought would have the most impact on her...the daily story of Missy and Bill.  At the end of each day, it has you review certain letters and their verses.  I did that half-heartedly because I didn't think Amity would be able to understand or memorize the Scriptures yet.  Well, silly me of little faith!  I was wrong and am happy to stand corrected!  Look what we discovered the other night! :)
