Not to be outdone!

While potty training has overtaken our home, little Miss V has been working on her own skills like cutting her first tooth and sitting up and being easy-going. Pretty much the only time we hear her cry is when she gets lonely. She is a light sleeper and if she hears us come into their room to get Amity up to go potty, she is just devastated if she is not included. With a smile like this, we are usually happy to oblige!

Double Oak Cousins

Sunday night, we headed over to Double Oak with the Connells to visit Dennis and Becky's cousin Cindy and her family. We enjoyed their beautiful home and pool and a yummy dinner!

Vivien experienced her first swim and, despite this expression, she LOVED it!
The big kids showed off their new swimming skills.

Sweet Cousin Kate was very patient with the very tired little Miss V.

At the end of the evening, I tried to coax a smile out of these two cousins but they ended up looking eighty years old instead of two! They were tired!
Thanks Cousins for a great evening!

Bathtime Buddies

I was giving Vivien a bath on Tuesday and she started to roll out of her seat so I decided it was time to break out the ring. I think it shows off her rolls quite nicely!

On Thursday, we let the two bathe together for the first time.
We're loving the cuteness and the lower water bill! :)

Dream On

This little chicarita has slept in her crib for two nights in the same room with big sister! AND both nights, she has slept until 7:30 or 8:15 am AND I have been able to sneak in and snatch her out of her bed in the morning without waking up Amity!!! Am I dreaming?

So thankful for the invention of white noise machines!
After getting a full tummy and clean diaper, we went in to wake up and smile at big sister!

Oh, I love a rainy day!

Rainy days have been few and far between lately. Amity enjoyed the rain and some people-watching from our front door!

A-mi-ty will make you jump, jump!

This afternoon, I was putting some things away in Amity's closet and discovered a fun hand-me-down from the Brunone family. I guess I had thought that Amity was still too young to use it. Evidently, we should have started this a while ago! :)
Love, love, love it!

Amity's Baptism Day

What a sweet day of celebrating the Gospel and God's covenant grace for our family! We echo the words of our assistant pastor, Aaron Morris, "Baptism enacts the gospel for us symbolically. It depicts God’s gracious gift toward the dead and helpless as he breathes life into us through His Spirit. Even though [Amity] will likely not remember [her] own baptism, we will remind [her] of it and [she] will watch it repeatedly as others are baptized. It is our prayer that God will use this sacrament in [her] life and in our own to call us all to ever-growing faith and hope in the Son.
To God alone be the glory!"
This is the video clip of the actual baptism. Amity wasn't sure what to think at first but then she quickly decided that it was a good thing.

This is the entire video (which will most likely only be watched by grandparents!).

What you don't see in the video above is how our pastor walked Amity down the aisle before the congregation, the same congregation that had just taken vows to pray "that this remembered sign will stir in her and in [us] lively Gospel faith and lush Gospel fruit." What a gift! We are so thankful for our church family!
Her proud (and emotional!) daddy!
After the service, Amity was worn out and I got to enjoy some rare snuggle time.
We are also so grateful for our own family that joined us from near and far to celebrate! We filled up several rows and later enjoyed a baked potato and salad lunch at our home. Thank goodness for four crockpots and no blown fuses!

First taste of sweet potatoes!

I think these may be an acquired taste!
Are you sure these are good for me?

Our budding opera star!

This has become Amity's favorite way to spend her waketime AND her naptime! What you hear is just a miniscule portion of the melodies that I have heard today. However, I will readily acknowledge that I have loved every note!
