Amity's Baptism Day

What a sweet day of celebrating the Gospel and God's covenant grace for our family! We echo the words of our assistant pastor, Aaron Morris, "Baptism enacts the gospel for us symbolically. It depicts God’s gracious gift toward the dead and helpless as he breathes life into us through His Spirit. Even though [Amity] will likely not remember [her] own baptism, we will remind [her] of it and [she] will watch it repeatedly as others are baptized. It is our prayer that God will use this sacrament in [her] life and in our own to call us all to ever-growing faith and hope in the Son.
To God alone be the glory!"
This is the video clip of the actual baptism. Amity wasn't sure what to think at first but then she quickly decided that it was a good thing.

This is the entire video (which will most likely only be watched by grandparents!).

What you don't see in the video above is how our pastor walked Amity down the aisle before the congregation, the same congregation that had just taken vows to pray "that this remembered sign will stir in her and in [us] lively Gospel faith and lush Gospel fruit." What a gift! We are so thankful for our church family!
Her proud (and emotional!) daddy!
After the service, Amity was worn out and I got to enjoy some rare snuggle time.
We are also so grateful for our own family that joined us from near and far to celebrate! We filled up several rows and later enjoyed a baked potato and salad lunch at our home. Thank goodness for four crockpots and no blown fuses!

First taste of sweet potatoes!

I think these may be an acquired taste!
Are you sure these are good for me?

Our budding opera star!

This has become Amity's favorite way to spend her waketime AND her naptime! What you hear is just a miniscule portion of the melodies that I have heard today. However, I will readily acknowledge that I have loved every note!

Welcome to the world, Eiley Ember!

Amity got to welcome her newest little cousin, Eiley, this morning at Baylor Hospital. I am sure there is certain mischief, much fun, and sweet memories awaiting these two little girls! Big brother/cousin Eli will have his hands full keeping them in line.

Grover Pride

This was how we announced that we were expecting Amity. This is how we plan to help her remember what her last name is! Thanks to the nurse at Dennis's school for the outfit! It will surely be a family heirloom! :)

Amity is five months old!

We can't believe our little girl is already 5 months old and yet we already can't remember what life was like before her (and don't want to!).
Some of her latest favorites:

Food - 30 ounces/day of Member's Mark formula including an evening supper of oatmeal

Books - She is really beginning to enjoy books and is happy to have practically anything read to her. Some recent favorites are Goodnight Moon (of course) by Margaret Wise Brown, Moo Baa La La La! by Sandra Boynton, Wake Up, Papa Bear! by David Algrim, and Brown Bear, Brown Bear by Bill Martin Jr. and Eric Carle.
Toys - Mortimer the Moose, My Friend Emily doll, rattles, Baby Doll
Waketime Activities - looking at her mobile, laying on her playgym, playing in the exersaucer, sitting in the bumbo, going for a walk in the stroller, reading books, playing on the floor with Mom

Sleep - 3 two hours naps and from 7:00 pm-7:00 am with a dreamfeed at 8:30 pm. The girl loves her sleep!
Laughter & Smiles - We are most likely to get her laughing by giving her zerberts or rubbing our heads against her tummy. The random word or noise will occasionally get her going too. Of course, she always saves her biggest smiles for her Daddy!

Happy Grandparents' Day!

Amity is so blessed! We are thankful for Pop Pop & Lollie, GDaddy & KK, and our adopted Grandpa and Grandma Barr!
