Chapel School Days

Shortly after Amity was born, I heard some friends from church talk about Chapel School. It sounded interesting and they told me to email someone to get on the waiting list. And so I did. In February of this year, I got a phone call from one of the Chapel School secretaries saying that we were sixth on the waiting list and asking us to come for a visit. I took Amity on Wednesday in March and we both fell in love. A month later, we found out that we were in. Ever since, "Chapel School" has been a frequent topic of conversation at the Grover House.

I attended a new moms' meeting in late August and a meeting for all the moms last week. Yesterday, the first day of Chapel School finally arrived. I was scheduled to work nursery so I needed to arrive extra early. We only had time for a brief but obligatory first day of school photo on the front porch. It happened to coincide with a parade of middle-schoolers walking down our street to their school. Of course, Amity had to tell them all about Chapel School!

Such big girls! So glad that Vivien can join us for this adventure too. I hope they find many years of comfort in the future going to school together.

When we got there, I dropped Amity off in the Opening Room with Mrs. Russell. Her nametag had been misplaced so she was a little concerned but apparently they worked through it. I was with Vivien and 20+ other children ages 2 and under in the nursery. It was fun to get to know some other moms and see the little siblings of the big kids I will be teaching in Phonics starting next week.

Amity did not want to leave Chapel School at 11:30 and she has been asking when she will get to go back. We reviewed the first book of the Walk Through the Bible New Testament program they are doing during Opening and she had really listened and could tell me about the lesson. In addition to telling me about her classes, she also mentioned that there was a boy in her class named Hunter. She said, "He has short hair on top and was wearing a red shirt but he didn't talk to me." What??? Her Daddy is going to have to have a talk with her about focusing on the fundamentals and not getting distracted by boys! :)

So excited and thankful that we get to be a part of this sweet, sweet group of moms and their kids!

Since our wedding scrapbook is still in the form of a scrapBOX, we plan to use blurb.com to occasionally convert this blog into a photobook for our girls. Your comments will be included in the book and we love them! Thanks again for dropping by!
