She's a big fan!

The hardest part about the ending of Spring Break is that Dennis/Daddy is back at work. Even when we had him home 24/7 last week, Vivien found that she just could not get enough of her Daddy and she just hated watching him be outside when she couldn't follow him.

Vivien, if you would just decide to start walking, we would let you start helping with the yardwork! :)

Summer Night in the Sprinklers

I had high hopes that Amity would love playing in the sprinklers but, apparently, it is going to be an acquired taste. While she loves bathtime, she doesn't seem to like the temperature of sprinkler water. Our sprinkler system was installed when the house was built in 1961 so I don't think there is much that can be done about controlling that! Maybe she will change her mind once she has experienced another hot Texas summer!

These are a few of my favorite things...

Early this afternoon, we made our weekly trip to Newflower Farmers Market to pick up some fresh fruit on sale. They had strawberries for $2, blackberries and blueberries for $1.50, peaches for $1/lb and the fancy-schmancy kind of milk for $1.99. I love this place! Now, Amity loves it too because of a kind gift from the cashier!

I remember loving to go to the gas station where my parents regularly stopped when I was in elementary school. The attendant would always send out a piece of Double Bubble gum to me when my dad went to the window to pay (obviously "Pay at the Pump" kind of put an end to that)! I love when people do their jobs well and enjoy bringing a smile to someone else's face at the same time!

From [Dallas] all the way to Plainview, I can't wait to get to you know who!

We spent a fun Memorial Day Weekend at Lolly and PopPop's new house in Plainview. Friday night's drive was a bit long and late with a little girl who struggled figuring out how to go to sleep in her new carseat. She finally gave it to sleep at midnight when we were 45 minutes from Plainview!

Despite having a fever for most of the weekend, Amity showed off her assisted-walking skills for Nanna, PopPop, and Lolly.

She played the organ for the first time with Lolly...

...and she did lots of other things that we forgot to take pictures of (ate Deon's pizza, played with trucks, was the only baby in church, slept in the closet, got kissed by Lolly's dogs). Thanks for a fun time, PopPop and Lolly!

One first for our family on this road trip was the use of Pontius's DVD player. We now get why these things are so popular! Dennis and I were content to listen to two Praise Baby DVDs and one Miss Pattycake DVD over and over and over!

It was especially useful since Amity didn't fall asleep until we had made it through Fort Worth. She was a tired, but still very sweet, little girl! Oh, and Paco was a very well-behaved dog, too!

I Saw the Signs!

While we have yet to identify any actual words that Amity is speaking, she can definitely get her point across. Here is a brief example:

Mother's Day 2009

On my 2nd Mother's Day, I am SO thankful for this little person that God entrusted to me by making me a mother!
Flowers and an iphone are always nice, too! The iphone is actually serving as our Mother's Day/Father's Day/5th Anniversary gift (and maybe birthday and Christmas, too)!
After loving on the little kiddoes in our church nursery this morning, we headed out for lunch at Chili's. Amity thoroughly enjoyed her mac 'n cheese lunch (please note the healthy broccoli pieces mixed in).
In fact, she enjoyed her lunch so much that she had to be undressed for the ride home.

We are thankful for our mothers and their examples to us as we have begun this journey of parenthood!

Color My World

This morning, we sat down for a second try at coloring. Grandmothers, you just may be receiving these masterpieces in the mail one day soon!
I think she is still a bit confused by the context (high chair) and my constant reminders that she can't eat what I am putting on her tray!
It looks like this girl is going to be right-handed (unlike her mother and Pappaw).
Oh wait! Maybe she is going to be ambidextrous! :)
