A Classic

Vivien has been crawling for a couple of weeks now and I realized that I never posted anything to remind me years from now of when she accomplished this skill. In the middle of cooking dinner on Friday night, I stopped to capture her mobility. I have watched this video so many times and just laugh out loud at how it is a perfect glimpse at our little life with these two right now. Some conclusions I have come to while watching it are:

- Anytime I try to spotlight Vivien in an effort to have as many photos/videos of her as we have of her sister at this age, Amity is bound to intervene and take up some of the airtime. At least her intention was to share!

- I see why I go through so many burp cloths in every laundry load. My girls are drooly! However, Words with Friends does not recognize "drooly" as a word because I tried it just this weekend.

- Amity can count. Who knew? I think she has learned to count primarily from us telling her she has until we count to ten to wrap up her sitting time on the potty (after a very prolonged time of sitting).

And, finally...

- Gassiness must be genetic and I am not referring to my side of the family!

Baptisms, Birthdays, and Babies, Oh My!

After leaving Grandmommys, we headed to the Limbaughs' house for the Connell Trifecta Celebration (birthdays, baptisms, and baby dedication). Amity was very excited to get a cross draw on her forehead when we first arrived.
The water was a bit chilly but it was a sweet time to witness Eiley's dedication and Becky and Eli's baptisms.
After a little bit of swimming and a lot of playing and cake, Amity conked out on the drive between the Limbaughs' and the campground.

Lolly cooked up a yummy dinner in their 2nd home!
Vivien is still thriving on Cheerios!
Amity experimented with dominoes but she just knocked them over all at once rather than taking my suggestion of knocking one down and watch the rest fall over as a result. I decided to argue this one!
The men took care of the grilling
Just as we were about to sit down to eat, several deer started getting very close to the campsite. Amity was very curious until one of them got really close. Then she turned and ran the other way!

After attending church in Tuscola where PopPop shared about his experience in Kenya, we ate a delicious lunch at The Homeplace. Vivien enjoyed more snuggles with Lolly!

Abilene, Abilene...

We were so excited to spend our Labor Day weekend in Abilene. We used to spend so much time there when we were dating and first married and we miss it! Of course, our road trips look a little different these days. First of all, we travel in Homer instead of the G or Pontius. Secondly, we carry a potty with us along with a little two-year-old who likes to use it while waving to the cars passing by on the service road!

We stayed at Papa and Nana Barr's house for what would be their first night in their brand-new beautiful home. They were so sweet to let us stay with them on such a busy weekend as they continued working on the house and moving furniture in.

On Saturday morning, we enjoyed time with Raegan and Baby Adam.
Amity, who hates to have me do her hair, let Linda fix it into the cutest ponytail after watching Raegan get her hair fixed. She knew she looked good! We may have to send her down to Abilene every few weeks just to get her hair fixed!
Raegan with the inspirational 'do!
Vivien watching Adam
Adam watching his toys We stopped by Mom and Dad Barr's house and Vivien gave out some snuggles and smiles. Amity enjoyed their crackers!

We ate lunch at Grandmommy's house with Linda's sisters and brother. The only pictures I took were of all of the kids lunching on the shower curtain liner. The food was delicious and it is always so sweet to see Grandmommy!

Vivien met her birthday twin, Samantha, and shared her Cheerios.

Our Sunday Best

When I first learned I was going to have a little girl, I started paying more attention to how little girls dressed. I quickly decided that I would be happy if my girl(s) were to wear smocked dresses until the day they graduate from high school. Since that may not happen, I take advantage of putting these two in smocked dresses every Sunday possible. This morning, Amity wore her birthday dress from GG and KK and Vivien wore her dress from Uncle Bill and Aunt Rita. Amity wasn't really excited about a photo session but Vivien didn't mind.

Looking up at her daddy!

Of course, every smocked dress needs some bloomers for added modesty and overall cuteness. These were a gift from the Browns.

And these were a gift from Mrs. Patsy. I think they are 12 months but they still fit!

There's nothing like gradually disrobing after church and lunch in preparation for a Sunday nap!

Maybe we should have worn these to accessorize the dress this morning!

Thanksgiving Hayride

On Thursday night, we went on a family hayride around the farm (to work off all of that turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes, etc.).
Uncle Brent, Aunt Jenni, Griffin, and Baby Barnabus Bounds (just kidding...we think!) were there.

Amity smiles, "I like this country living..."

"...but Mom, was this hat really the best you could find in all of Pryor!"
GDaddy's seven horses greeted us in the pasture. I still haven't learned all of their names so I can't say which ones these two are.
Amity really was having a good time. Don't be deceived by this picture!
Of all the things there are to play with on the farm, there is still nothing like a stick!
As we made our way back to the house, we enjoyed looking at the beautiful Oklahoma sky.

Well, most of us enjoyed it! Amity had fallen asleep in KK's arms. I don't think KK minded!

Over the Red River and through the woods...

to GDaddy and KK's house we went!

Amity played with a balloon for the first time.

She showed off her favorite toys to GDaddy.

KK showed her how to play with DW's (Arthur's sister) hair.
And, of course, she got in lots of snuggles!

Amity from the block!

It was pretty cold last Thursday as we prepared to go for a morning walk (60 degrees in Texas is cold)! I needed the exercise but I didn't want to risk Amity's cold getting any worse than it already was. Thankfully, she had her groovy hat from the Russells, windbreaker from the NSP clothing swap, and BabyLegs from the bookclub to keep her toasty (not pictured is her blanket from Lollie which was also included for the walk)!

Seven months old!

Little Miss Smiley turns seven months old today! What a difference a month makes! The latest with Amity is:
- Sleeping from 7pm-7am at night (It's great but we kind of miss her! )
- Sitting up pretty steadily, although we still need to work on her balance
- Playing with toys and grabbing pretty much anything she can get her hands on (the fire extinguisher in the grocery store aisle, strangers' noses, etc.)
- Saying "Da-da" and lots of other syllables (Can I say Dennis is just a little bit proud?)
- Waving "hello" (it's a very subtle wave but it's there!) :)
- Scooting towards toys with an elbow-pull/foot-push combo on the floor
- Cutting two more teeth
