On Sunday morning, we went to church with my parents and then came home for Father's Day steaks and naps. After nap, we loaded up in the truck and headed down to "the park" for a cookout with my parents' neighbors. The park is a small clearing on the other side of the ravine behind the barn. My dad has done so much work to clear out a beautiful, shaded place for picnics and the kids to play.
I found a bug motel and bug-catching tools at the Dollar Tree the other day. I thought it might help Amity conquer a little bit of her bug-fear. I don't think it worked but she and Griffin did have lots of fun hunting for bugs.Aunt Jenni was the first to trap an ant for their bug motel.
Of course, it needed to be examined carefully. Does Amity still look a little bit squeamish?
Wyatt found the guineas!
Vivien practiced walking on uneven terrain.
We ate a yummy dinner of ham sandwiches with s'mores for dessert.
The neighbors brought their four-wheelers and,
after their son showed off some 4-wheeling fun, guess who decided to give it a try? First, it was GG...
Brent and Jenni went for a ride.
Then, Dennis and I went for a ride probably for the first time in about seven years. It was reminiscient of when we got engaged on a four-wheeler! Aww... :)
Back at the picnic site, the little kids admired the big kids.
Played with bubbles
Looked for more bugs
Just chilled

And argued with their uncle about whether the gray stuff coming from the campfire was smoke or steam!
